After years of promoting Muscadet wine, Le Voyage à Nantes is launching its own vintage: “Le Muscadet du Voyage.”
This cuvée reflects the theme of earth, since wine originates in the deep roots that draw nutrients from the soil, nourishing the grapes and shaping the organoleptic profile of the grapes.
A one-of-a-kind vintage
Le Muscadet du Voyage is a collective wine that celebrates the diversity of Nantes’ terroirs. Rather than selecting the wine of a single producer, the decision was made to blend juices from different estates representing the region’s main terroirs: granite, gabbro, orthogneiss, amphibolite, and serpentinite. All of which will be certified organic.
After a “blind” selection phase (one juice per terroir), they will then be blended in defined proportions to create a cuvée that highlights the complementary nature of each terroir. The wine will then age in a single vat until bottling during La Nuit du Van.
The label
True to its tradition, Le Voyage à Nantes will commission an artist illustrator, painter, or other creative — to design a unique label reflecting their vision of this vintage.
Production / Distribution
5,000 bottles of Le Muscadet du Voyage — including a few collector magnums — will be produced, and it will not be distributed through traditional channels (i.e., bars, restaurants, wine merchants). In keeping with its mission as a promotional and educational wine, it will be available at Le Voyage à Nantes’ ambassador locations: the Bazar Officiel du Voyage, Château de la Frémoire, HAB Galerie bookstore, and possibly La Cantine du Voyage.
