The Carré Feydeau building was built with many spacious underground rooms that, for the time being, remain largely unused.
For this unconventional space, Daniel Firman has decided to show several powerful works that amplify the inherently uncanny quality of a space both vast and obscure.
Something strange happened here – a monumental neon sculpture – floods the basement with purple light. A Luxman turntable spins, but its platter (upon which sits a glass of beer) remains still. Dry Wash – made up of a dryer on top of a washing machine – juxtaposes the opposing qualities of dry and wet. Drone Project features three motorised electric guitars that play an endless drone. And, finally, Le Feu, humorously evokes the image of a household.
