Domaine de la Garenne Lemot
La Garenne Lemot Estate
A garden imagined by Lemot, sculptor for Napoleon

On the banks of the Sèvre Nantaise, visit an exceptional site heavily inspired by Italian architecture, set on stunning grounds.

In the 19th century, sculptor François-Frédéric Lemot built a Tuscan-style house and neoclassical villa on this former hunting ground. In the middle of this 13-hectare park overlooking the Sèvre River and the town of Clisson, he created an idyllic and idealized landscape inspired by the great, picturesque gardens of the 18th century. He decorated its tree-lined paths with a variety of ornamental structures (statues, a cave, a temple, columns, gravestones…).

At the heart of the estate, the Maison du Jardinier completes the course with a didactic and playful staging, the permanent exhibition «the Italian dream of François-Frédéric Lemot» which allows to understand the origin of the places.

In summer, the Villa hosts a temporary exhibition, renewed each year.

A stage of the Voyage dans le Vignoble that remains true to its original vocation, since the place also welcomes artists and works of art for temporary exhibitions.
