Place Royale
Pacific

Built in 1865, the fountain in Place Royale was built to symbolize the city’s economic prosperity.

Somewhere between a vision and an experiment, Maen Florin projects a new image onto the fountain – one of a world in full transformation. Roughly twenty ceramic sculptures find refuge in the fountain next to the original bronze figures, finding shelter inside the monument and symbolizing the mutations humans have generated by radically transforming the environment.

Maen Florin was born in 1954. She lives and works in Schelderode, near Ghent, Belgium.
