Place du Bouffay

Baptiste Debombourg

Baptiste debombourg’s work takes the real world and morphs it into something new.

His project for Place du Bouffay is no exception. The artist decided to play with this space by creating a large aerial sculpture that contradicts the gravity of everyone anchored to the ground on the café terraces below it.

In a dialogue with the volume of the public square and the height of the buildings, two ellipses of chairs rise up into the air, meet, and then separate, drawing a form that evokes the infinitely tiny material element and the infinitely vast space of the cosmos.
