Océan, une plongée insolite

An exhibition produced by the Muséum national d’histoire Naturelle – Jardin des Plantes, Paris and adapted to the Muséum d’histoire naturelle in Nantes.

Although it takes up most of our planet’s surface, the ocean remains largely unexplored. This exhibition offers visitors a wonderful, surprising journey into the heart of rare biodiversity – far from the coastline and anything we could possibly know.

After presenting the challenges involved in exploring the ocean floor, visitors dive into this otherworldly dimension to discover the secret life of plankton before venturing into more extreme environments where they will encounter the unique fauna inhabiting the great depths and icy waters of the Southern Ocean. The rest of the journey sheds light on the unimaginable resources within the marine world and promotes a more respectful approach to nature. This exhibition is also an invitation to rediscover Jules Verne’s Extraordinary Voyages, blending science and imagination, reflecting the writer’s fascination for the ocean and the animals inhabiting it.

Ils remontent le temps
The artists and scientists aboard the Marion Dufresne boat exchange their perspectives on the same research subject: the paleoclimate in the North and South Pole. They have joined forces to offer a powerful yet delicate project in the form of captured images and videos.
