In his work, Rolf Julius tirelessly seeked to reveal the relationship between music and sculpture, or how to create “music for the eyes” (which is also the title of one of his compositions).
Air can only be heard by people walking past the Manny Building. Hidden under the building’s metal skin, speakers produce the discrete sounds of clinking metal and distant bird song. Both a sculptor and a musician, Rolf Julius has made an “audible façade”.
