Sans Titre (Le spectre de la lumière)
Dominique Blais

Dominique Blais sculpts sound, image and light. Sans titre (Le spectre de la lumière) –or: “Untitled (The Spectre of Light)” – is a kinetic work that takes its inspiration from a well-known object in science – the gyroscope – which Blais associates with Newton’s disc. The speed of the disc’s rotation depends on the intensity of the external light, creating effects of coloured iridescence. This moving sculpture feeds on light – or its absence – to make colour appear or disappear. Inside a school where students learn to create images, the artist forges an intrinsic dialogue between light and movement.
