A taxidermied animal is a strange figure: it is both a symbol of death, and a denial of it. The art of taxidermy lies in preserving the animal’s organic shell while simulating its vitality through careful assembly.
Romain Baro has partnered with the Muséum de Nantes to question this heritage via medical imaging. This exhibition presents specimens from the museum’s reserves, where radiography reveals an unprecedented intersection between an animal’s exterior and interior.
