Lunar Tree
Mrzyk & Moriceau

Motivated by their mutual desire to expand the art of drawing, these two artists also turned to animated films, wall drawings, or installations into which they integrate some form of sculpture.

Lunar Tree “grows” out of a rocky patch of butte Sainte-Anne and takes the form of a pure white, dead tree that is 12 meters tall (40 feet). By day, it rises up out of the river. At night, from the tip of the île de Nantes (at the foot of the grey crane), a halo of light emanates from the tree’s every branch as it appears against the black background of the darkened sky. Its shape and colour suddenly make it appear as if it were a drawing in space.
