The strange industrial animal evokes a 40m snake or dragon.

Coming out of the river, he creeps and stands up to face the Loire river, “mouth wide open”. PVC tubing and the representation of a snake are recurrent materials and themes in Jimmie Durham’s work. The snake symbolizes the river and the tube stands for a canal for imagination; this piece is an attempt to fragment – by linking them – space and hierarchy: water/sky, above/below, visible/invisible, past/future…
