{"id":74220,"date":"2023-05-23T10:34:17","date_gmt":"2023-05-23T08:34:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.levoyageanantes.fr\/oeuvres\/the-humans\/"},"modified":"2025-01-28T12:22:45","modified_gmt":"2025-01-28T11:22:45","slug":"the-humans","status":"publish","type":"oeuvre","link":"https:\/\/www.levoyageanantes.fr\/en\/artworks\/the-humans\/","title":{"rendered":"The Humans."},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"VAN22_CHAPEAU\"><p class=\"p1\">Olaf Breuning\u2019s work has been shown all over the world, with exhibitions in the most prestigious institutions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>For his contribution to Le Voyage \u00e0 Nantes, he takes over Place du Commerce with a set of 6 sculptures in Carrara marble and bronze elements: <em>Half Fish Half Monkey, Mouse, Venus, Religion, Rock, <\/em>and<em> King<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Using the same visual codes as those for emojis, Breuning\u2019s characters express perplexity and distress. With their simple smiles curved downwards, they are both transfigured and clearly pathetic, conveying age-old stereotypes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After being displayed in Place du Commerce as part of this year\u2019s edition, these sculptures will be made permanent fixtures in another outdoor part of the city.<\/p>\n\n\n\t<\/div><\/section>\n\t<section class=\"VAN22_NOTE VAN22_BG_gris\"><div class=\"VAN22_LIMIT_SECTION\"><p>Olaf Breuning was born in 1970 in Schaffhausen (Switzerland) and now lives and works in New York.
