{"id":31340,"date":"2021-12-28T14:18:32","date_gmt":"2021-12-28T13:18:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.levoyageanantes.fr\/evenements\/aam-aastha\/"},"modified":"2022-10-21T10:25:48","modified_gmt":"2022-10-21T08:25:48","slug":"aam-aastha","status":"publish","type":"evenement","link":"https:\/\/www.levoyageanantes.fr\/en\/events\/aam-aastha\/","title":{"rendered":"AAM AASTHA"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"VAN22_CHAPEAU\"><p>After <em>Wilder Mann<\/em> in 2017 and <em>Cimarron<\/em> in 2019, Charles Fr\u00e9ger returns with a new series of photos, and his third exhibition at Ch\u00e2teau des ducs de Bretagne.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>In his photo project, AAM AASTHA, Charles Fr\u00e9ger continues his research on masquerade rituals around the world \u2013 a subject at the heart of several of his past series: <em>Wilder Mann<\/em> (ongoing since 2010), <em>Yokainoshima<\/em> (2013-2015), and <em>Cimarron<\/em> (2014-2018).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Initially interested in the <em>Ramayana<\/em> (an ancient epic and founding text of Hinduism containing mythological and cosmogonic tales) and its different interpretations in Asian cultures, Fr\u00e9ger began a series of trips to India in 2019, a country in which he had already completed the projects <em>Sikh Regiment of India<\/em> (2010), <em>Painted Elephants<\/em> (2013) and <em>School Chalo<\/em> (2016).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>He began his research in Southern India (Karnakata, Kerala, Tamil Nadu), exploring often spectacular incarnations of deities.<br>These mostly Hindu sacred dances and theatrical performances (Theyam, Katakali, Mudiyetu, Terukutu\u2026) are practiced in temples, theatres, and street festivals. Incarnating a god obeys strict social codes, and members of the lowest castes are often assigned these roles.
