Île Feydeau
Oval Courtyard
Remarkable 18th century building

Two identical buildings overlook a shared, rectangular courtyard called the Cour Ovale (the “Oval courtyard”) named after the bevelled angles at the far end of the yard.

This structure is usually inaccessible to the public, but it offers an excellent example of that era’s architecture, when the island was still being built. Since 1984, it has been listed as an historical monument.
