By affirming the experimental nature of artistic actions that occur outdoors, alongside those private moments of communion with nature, this exhibition takes a set of contemporary works from French public collections and demonstrates the way in which encounters with nature inspire creativity, as well as how the experience of natural spaces is transmitted through the artist's gesture.
This exhibition presents the work of roughly seven artists who look at nature through their own unique lens before taking the time to experience and translate it aesthetically. It explores the relationship artists maintain with the natural world and bears witness to the encounters or actions that gave birth to forms through sculpture, the fixed or animated image, drawings or stories. The notion of a relationship to time as an inherent element of the creative process – whether in its relationship to space or to the time spent in a workshop – is a particularly important part of this approach.
