Ports, natural reserves, arable land, industrial districts, urban areas... the Loire estuary is a true mosaic. Guy-Pierre Chomette (texts) and Franck Tomps (photographs) travelled through it on foot and made a fascinating travel story out of it.
Their long trek sweeps us out to the edge of an unknown estuary, from Nantes to Saint-Nazaire by way of Couëron, Lavau-sur-Loire, Paimbœuf and Le Pellerin. They seek out hazy yet fierce shores, inhabited by locals with passionate testimonies which they have collected. As they make their way through the landscape, as they look for the unique lights surrounding the mouth of the river, they offer up a delicate and sensorial portrait of the estuary.
Published by Editions 303, their work will be presented in le lieu unique this summer and accompanied by a soundtrack made up of sounds collected in the estuary by producers Anne-Line Drocourt and Cécile Préfol.
