This group show features artists who have been awarded the city’s visual arts prize (Prix des arts visuels de la Ville de Nantes). It heralds the beginning of a story, a desire to look at the horizon and consider the coexistence of multiple worlds.
The title is taken from Maggie Nelson’s Bluets, which blends textual fragments, either intimate or theoretical, then lays them out in a narrative cosmology.
Anthony Bodin, Ariane Yadan, Benoit Baudinat, Cendrine Robelin and Julie Maquet intertwine the singularity of their own practices, their imaginations and their commitments and, for a brief instant, offer a poetic and/or critical glimpse of our futures.
Several works borrowed from the collections of the Musée d’arts de Nantes, the Frac Pays de la Loire and the Artothèque de Nantes round off this exhibition – curated by Julien Arnaud – which aims to show that art is one of the possible ways in which we can multiply our access to otherness.
The artwork, documents, archives, projects and utopias featured here tell a story written by six authors – a story that is inclusive, joyful and intense.
