Les Nids
Tadashi Kawamata

While his Belvédère de l’hermitage offers an exceptional view of Nantes, Kawamata also plans to take over the city itself.

As you walk along the city, wooden structures resembling nests can be found in the trees, on facades, and on Nantes’ historical and most emblematic monuments. These strange constructions almost appear to be growths emerging out of the buildings they have latched themselves onto, as if an ecosystem were slowly taking over Nantes. Tadashi Kawamata’s nests offer a new poetic and melancholic dimension to the city.
